Base preparation

   Concrete or cement basis should be not less than 28 days «old», the temperature – not less than +5°. All construction joints, gaps, cracks and holes, which can create leakage of the mixture, must be filled in. All defects must be cured. A dempfer tape must be laid along the perimeter (and columns) of the floor.  

   The surface must be cleaned from any dust, mud, oil or bitumen spots, paint, etc. The surface must be treated with a high adhesion floor primer IVSIL TIE-ROD. In case of capillary raise of humidity, the surface should be covered with a layer of hydro-insulation mix IVSIL VODOSTOP.

Mixing of mortar

   Pour the content of a mix pack into a mixing bucket with clean water in the proportion of 12 kg of dry mix (whole pack) per 5,4 - 6,0 L of water and thoroughly stir it with the help of a mixing drill until homogeneous mixture is received. Leave it for 5-10 minutes, then stir again. Ready mixture should be used within 4 hours since it was prepared. Adding to much water to the mix may result in loosing strength characteristics of the mixture and appearance of cracks when the floor has dried.



   Install screed rails at required intervals. Pour ready mixture to create a layer of 20-300 mm and level with the help of a walking trowel. Do not allow draughts, direct sunshine or sharp changes of temperature or humidity whilst the floor is getting dry. Air and basis temperature must be from +5° to +30°.  You can walk over the floor in 48 hours.

   To create a finishing layer it is recommended to use self-levelling IVSIL mixes. To provide sufficient strength in busy areas the recommended thickness of finishing layer should be not less than 7 mm for solid flooring materials (mosaic, tiles, laminate, etc.) and not less than 10mm for soft covers (carpets, linoleum, cork, etc.). Ceramic tiles or ceramic-granite is laid over without any finishing layer.

   Further application of decorative flooring materials is made following the instructions of a manufacturer, mentioned on a package of IVSIL mix with a special control of basis humidity level.

   Extra light, thermo-insulation and soundproofing screed IVSIL TERMOLITE – is an insulation material based on cement, combination of polymer additives and special fillers foamglas Penostek*.

   Thermo-insulation screed – floor levelling IVSIL TERMOLITE is suitable for thick layered levelling of floor prior to finishing-off flooring with IVSIL materials. Due to its strength it does not require any extra thick layer of screed. As compared with other screeds based on foam-polystyrene, this mix guarantees shorter time frame for flooring jobs.

   Thermo-insulation floor mix IVSIL TERMOLITE is light, economical (3,5 - 4 kg per 1 sq-m with thickness of 1 cm), it minimises load on foundation and provides better thermo-insulation (thermal conductivity - 0,1W/m*K) and soundproofing than thermo-insulation concretes. It is suitable for any interior and exterior thermo-insulation jobs.

   It is ecologically clean, and unlike materials based on foam-polystyrene granules, it does not contain any flammable or toxic materials and therefore can be used in places with specific, extra high safety requirements against fire hazard (highest level of security). It is applied manually or by a machine.

   It is used as thermo-insulation and soundproofing material for floors of loggias, balconies, verandas, etc. and other places where it is necessary to provide thermo-insulation of the basis in walked over areas. It is a perfect thermo-insulation and soundproofing material for use in flats on any storey. Ideal thermo-insulation for the ground floor. Due to its light weight THERMOLITE is recommended for thermo-insulation of wooden houses, frame-houses or multi-storeyed buildings as its load on foundations is 2 times less than that one of normal traditional materials.

IVSIL TERMOLITE is also used:

   - for thermo-insulation basis under heated floors to ensure prevention of warmth loss (in this case the «heated floor system is setup over the screed level);

   - as super-light floor in cases where it is necessary to level the floors with a minimum loading of the floor (old buildings, restoration jobs, limited abilities of foundation to sustain weight);

   - as thick-layered thermo-insulation floor when it is necessary to level the surface with a thick layer (up to 30 cm) due to the presence of tubes, cables, drainage systems, etc.);

   - as thermo-insulation roofing, it is suitable for soundproofing and insulation of flat roofs;

   - as a soundproofing floor: it is effective protection against noise; it lasts longer and is stronger than quick alternative «floating» screed;

   - as thermo-insulation floor for machine application: it is a quick solution for floor insulation of big areas, it is suitable for  machine application of the mixture.
